Did Barbara Walters Drop the (Cue) Ball?

As if dealing with Rosie O'Donnell's various feuds doesn't take up enough of her time, does Barbara Walters now have to worry about the guest hosts on The View?
Comedian Sherri Shepherd has been a guest cohost on The View about a dozen times, but she says Walters hasn't always made it easy.
During her stand-up performance at last night's Comedy for a Cure benefit for the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance at Hollywood's Music Box theater, Shepherd told a story that went like this: During one of Shepherd's guesting gigs, Walters insisted that Shepherd not wear an IFB, the ubiquitous television earpiece that on-air people wear to receive audio cues from directors and producers. Walters would provide the comedian with any necessary direction.
"How do you say no to Barbara Walters?" the comic asked the crowd. But according to Shepherd, the View producers looked at her and said, "[Walters] is crazy!"
Shepherd went on to say she wasn't too happy in the end, because when she looked to Walters for cues, "She's staring up at the ceiling...That heifer [was] not giving me my cues."
Walters' rep says the TV icon would never have asked Shepherd to forgo an earpiece. "She always wants people wearing one," the rep said. "So, I don't believe that story to be true."
As for Shepherd's rep, he says his client has had nothing but a positive experience on The View. He explained that Shepherd was probably having some fun by putting a "spin on a partial story."
Ray Romano, on the other hand, only has his wife to face after his performance. The former star of Everybody Loves Raymond cracked that they only have sex every three months. He says after each time, he knows that the next day, it's time to "pay my quarterly estimated tax."
If oral sex is involved, he joked, "I renew my license."
All joking—and possible View drama—aside, the evening raised more than $230,000 for the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance. TS is a genetic disorder that causes tumor growth in the brain, heart, lungs and other vital organs. A baby is born with TS every 20 minutes, according to the Alliance.
Patricia Heaton and her husband, David Hunt, and House creator David Shore were also honored at last evening's shindig for their work in fighting TS. Comedy for a Cure benefits will also be held in Boston and Chicago.
