Daniel Baldwin Rung Up for SUV-Swiping

Alec Baldwin's up for a Golden Globe next week, and Daniel Baldwin, well…

The legally beleaguered Baldwin brother is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 6 at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach on two felony charges stemming from a November arrest in which police spotted the former Homicide: Life on the Street star in a car that had been reported stolen.

Baldwin is facing two counts of receiving stolen property and unlawfully taking a vehicle.

According to Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino, officers nabbed Baldwin on Nov. 7 outside of a motel in Santa Monica after catching a signal from the security system of the 2003 GMC Yukon the actor was driving, allegedly without permission from the SUV's owner.

Two days earlier, police said, the vehicle had been reported stolen by a friend of Baldwin's who lives in the O.C. area. The cops picked Baldwin up when they saw him getting into the Yukon and took him to the Orange County Jail, where he was booked and released on his own recognizance. Prosecutors filed charges Dec. 29, according to local wire reports.

At the time of his arrest, police said, Baldwin was also under investigation for possession of illegal drugs because officers found narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the 46-year-old actor's motel room, but he is not facing drug-related charges for that incident.

Baldwin is, however, due in Los Angeles' Airport Branch Courthouse Feb. 1 to answer to two misdemeanor charges of possessing a cocaine-ingesting device and being under the influence. Those counts resulted from an April arrest when a woman who alleged that Baldwin threatened her summoned police to yet another Santa Monica motel, where a subsequent search turned up cocaine and user paraphernalia.

And yet through it all, Baldwin has continued to work. His imdb.com profile shows that he had five small film roles in 2006 and has two indies in the pipeline, including a comedy called Big Deal with Everwood star Treat Williams.

His more high-profile work in the past has included turns in Paparazzi, Attack of the 50-Foot Woman, Car 54, Where Are You?, Mulholland Falls and Trees Lounge.
