Damon's Bluff and Tarantino's Tunes: Lucky 7 Lessons from Vegas

Nothing I hate more in life than the flight back from Vegas. Luckily, I had an awesome time out there, actually won some money, for a change, and picked up some hot knowledge from the stars at ShoWest. Here are seven fresh factoids:

1. Quentin Rolls with His Own Tunes:  For the filming of Grindhouse, Quentin Tarantino flew his actual jukebox, from his home, down to Austin, Texas. In his half of the movie, Planet Terror, the seedy bar music machine that provides the soundtrack to the film is really his, and it's filled with an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, soul, you name it.

2. Emma Roberts Is Going to Be a Big, Big Star:  You might not be familiar with her now, but you will be. She's done a few things (Aquamarine), is the niece of Julia Roberts, and this summer she stars as Nancy Drew. Heard of her, right? She's only 17, so let's hope she doesn't fall in love with "the club" and waste her time in Hollywood hitting the town with Lohan & Co.

3. Matt Damon Sucks at Poker:  Of the entire cast of the Oceans movies, Don Cheadle tells me that producer Jerry Weintraub is the best poker player and Matt Damon is the worst. That's surprising. Not only has Matt played in the World Series of Poker, he also starred in one of my favorite flicks as a poker player (talking Rounders, of course).

4. They're Already Talking Up Transformers 2:  While the first one isn't even out yet, the boy wonder Shia LaBeouf told me that "if" this one makes money (if!), there will be a second one. I mean, obviously, but still good to know they're thinking ahead.

5. Cyclops Can Sing and Dance:  I had no idea James Marsden is a singer, but he tore down Vegas Wednesday night at the Hairspray presentation. He also was on my flight back to Bur-stank. We watched some college hoops together at the gate. He, like me, likes Georgetown to take it all.

6. Robert Rodriguez Uses His Head:  The director says he edits his movies in his head while filming them. Freddy Rodríguez, who stars in Grindhouse, says it can be unsettling as an actor, because R.R. will ask you to do things that don't make sense at the time, but you have to trust him, because he literally is making cuts and edits on the spot.

7. Kirsten Dunst Loves This SNL Thing:  She tells me she's totally into hosting again, had a blast doing it in the past and was even an extra when she was a kid. Dunst won't be able to do it for Spidey 3, though, as it opens when SNL goes dark for the summer. I suggested they just push the release date to make it work, and she assured me she would make some calls.
