Daisies' Delightful Diva Destined for London
ABC/JUSTIN STEPHENS
It's official!
Kristin Chenoweth is heading to London.
I can happily report the Tony Award-winning actress who plays Olive Snook on ABC's hit dramedy Pushing Daisies has finalized her deal to star in the English National Opera’s West End production of Candide.
Chenoweth’s rep just confirmed to me she’ll play Cunégonde in the 1956 operetta for 13 performances, starting on June 23, 2008. Candide, based on Voltaire’s novella of the same name, features music composed by Leonard Bernstein. This won’t be Chenoweth’s first go-round as Cunégonde. She played the part in a limited four-show concert production with the New York Philharmonic in May 2004.

It was also announced today that Chenoweth has joined the cast of New Line Cinema’s romantic comedy Four Christmases, opposite Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn.
And then there’s the year 2010. She’ll make her debut at New York’s Metropolitan Opera as Samira in John Corigliano’s The Ghost of Versailles.
So much for my theater-queen friends’ hope that Chenoweth would make a return someday soon to Wicked as Glinda, the role she originated on Broadway.
