Looks like the Material Girl's girl will have to wait for another chance to make her big-screen debut.

Madonna has cut a scene featuring her daughter, Lourdes Leon, from her upcoming flick W.E., which opens in limited release this Friday.

Guess Madge is the kinda mom who has no problem saying "no" to her kids!

So what was Lourdes' role, and why was it canned?

Madonna tells MTV News that Lourdes would have played a young version of actress Abbie Cornish, whose character, a modern-day New Yorker, fixates on the famed love story between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII.

"I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute," Madge says of casting her daughter. "It was quite unfair of me what I did and what I asked her to do."

And what was the verdict on the performance?

"She was really great," the star says of Lourdes, "and then I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know...I said, 'Sorry babe, you're on the cutting room floor.' She took it like a champ."

The film has had its ups and downs since first hitting the radar last fall at the Venice Film Festival. After its debut, European critics uniformly trashed W.E. for being unintentionally funny, which instantly killed its Oscar buzz.

Madge bounced back last month at the Golden Globes when she won the Best Original Song award for "Masterpiece," which she penned for W.E. But she was left out of the Oscar race when the song was deemed ineligible. (It appears far too late into the movie's closing credits.)

Well, if anything, Lourdes' coulda-been cameo gave the budding thesp a chance to work again with Mom—the two clearly like to do stuff together. (They launched a clothing line together in 2010 called Material Girl.)

Guess we'll just have to wait for the director's cut of W.E. to see Lourdes get into the (acting) groove!
