Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has given a whole new meaning to yelling cut on a movie set, by running into an obstacle while filming...and cutting his head.

The Moulin Rouge and Strictly Ballroom director took one to the noggin on location in Austrailia where he's shooting the F. Scott Fitzgerald 1920's period piece, which stars Leonardo DiCaprioTobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Gatsby co-producer Anton Monsted says due to "quite a cramped set," Luhrmann "was ducking under the crane and struck his head on the weights on the end of the camera crane. He split open his head and we had to get the doctor.''

Luhrmann's head knock resulted in the director getting three stitches, while the cast and crew had a better outcome—heading home early for the holidays. With just a few more days left in the shoot, the production should wrap early in 2012.

Aside from Luhrmann's accident, Monsted says that the past 83 days of filming have gone "extremely well." Adding, "the only obstacle we've really faced has been bad weather."

Well, if you're not Baz that is!
