Could George Clooney Be Eyeing an Oscar for The Descendants?
George Clooney is gunning for Oscar No. 2, and this time he has his sights set on a Best Actor trophy.
The just-turned-50 star is taking the lead in The Descendants, a drama from Sideways director Alexander Payne about a father trying to reconnect with his daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident.
Calling himself "the backup parent," Clooney's unquestionable acting chops are on display as an austere dad struggling to deal with heartbreak, unruly teens and gasp! the shock of infidelity. Another thing we learn from the trailer? Looks like George can still run a solid mile.
