A Common Celebration of Music

Tonight, I’m off to listen to music and have a drink at the album release party for Common's Finding Forever, hosted by Target. I’m really looking forward to chilling with some great tunes and changing my mindset after the past 24 hours of nonstop knocked-up Nicole gab, which is all I’ve been hearing about from everyone. I mean, I’m happy for mama-to-be Ms. Richie, but let’s move on, people...

But it’s not to be. When I pull up to One Sunset, Bai Ling is walking the red carpet in a very unfortunate vest and miniskirt combination that reveals way too much. "I hope Nicole enjoys it and has more babies," Bai tells me. "I would like to [have babies]." I try to shake the thought of the midriff-baring onesie Bai might dress that baby in, and get back to the beats at hand.

Other celebs pull up, ready to celebrate Common’s (and not Nicole’s, thank God!) newest arrival. The starry set includes Diana Ross' kids Evan and Tracee, Niecy Nash decked with that signature flower in her hair, the always slick Kanye West and cleavage-bearing Serena Williams.

Once inside the party, I eventually catch up with the man of the hour. Common’s dressed casually in a printed tee and is happily soaking up the moment. "Finding Forever means finding a place in music where you can exist forever," the rapper tells me. "Good music can be forever. I’m continuing on the quest to make forever music."
