Christian Slater's "Cuckoo" Encounter
A very bad thing almost befell Christian Slater in London Friday night.
The thesp was leaving a West End theater after his stage performance of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest when he was reportedly attacked by an individual wielding a knife.
Media reports stated that Slater's bodyguard took the brunt of the attack, which occurred outside the Gielgud Theater. Both men reportedly escaped without injury.
"A 44-year-old man [presumed to be Slater's bodyguard] was attacked by a knife which luckily did not penetrate his skin, but only his clothes," a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said in a statement.
She said that a knife was recovered at the scene and that police were continuing to investigate.
Slater's play ended a three-month run on Saturday. The Heathers star began his U.K. stage run in August after a brief delay caused by a mean case of chicken pox.
Next up, Slater will be seen opposite Tara Reid in the thriller Alone in the Dark, which opens Friday. The movie is based on the horror video game series of the same name.
Slater will also appear in the upcoming crime pic License to Steal, costarring William Hurt.
