Michelle Williams said in her Golden Globes acceptance speech that she was a mother first and actress second. We have one thing to say to that: Whoa, mama!

And if that list didn't have a third, well, it certainly does now: Thanks to the Oscar frontrunner's sultry new spread in GQ (who knew?), the My Week With Marilyn star should add international sex symbol to her ever-growing list of talents.

Marilyn Monroe would be proud.

"I wouldn't say that that would be one of my first qualities as a human being—being sexy," she told the magazine. Well, gee, she had us fooled!

"And I think because my character on Dawson's Creek was sexy…sexualized…sexual…I saw all the negative attention and connotations that can come along with that. And that those things can keep people from seeing you clearly.

"I mean, sexuality has been a part of my work, obviously…Blue Valentine…but it's never been sexy, it hasn't been beautiful."

Of course, as any magazine interview does these days, the subject eventually rolled around to that of her late partner and father of daughter Matilda, Heath Ledger.

When asked why the duo was so drawn together, the 31-year-old replied, "There's an answer that I know, but I don't want to say. Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something."

With regards to their seemingly speedy coupling and procreating, she said, "Yeah, a lot of things happened at once. It's a bit like: We had a lot of things to do, because we didn't have a lot of time, or something."

As for Matilda and expanding her family, Michelle said that she no longer feels the urgency she did in the past year or two to have more kids.

"Because I really wanted, and I really expected or imagined, that Matilda would have siblings that were close to her age. I wanted that for her. But I couldn't make that happen. And now that she's 6, that isn't even a possibility anymore.

"So something that was making me feel impatient, that's been removed. For whatever reason, that's not our luck or our path."

As for her relationship with Heath, it's obvious that her love has not waned, and when asked if she used to believe the two of them would eventually find their way back to each other, she answers, through tears.

"That would make me way too sad to answer," she said. Then, after a long pause, "I said it would make me too sad to answer, but it's also…one of my favorite things to imagine."

"Nothing has turned out like I expected to," she told GQ. "Some things have been better, and some things have been much, much, much worse."

Something tells us this year—and this awards season—is going to skew for the better.
