Chaz Bono Is a "Blessing in My Life," Says Stepmom

Chaz Bono haters need to back off.

Not only does he have the support of his mom, Cher, but...

His stepmom, U.S. Rep. Mary Bono Mack, is also in his corner.

"I love Chaz very much," the Republican congresswoman told me at the Palm Springs International Film Festival gala. "I'm very proud of Chaz."

Chaz recently told Rolling Stone that he's planning on having bottom surgery to give him a penis. He also said he's ready to date again after splitting from his fiancée, Jennifer Elias.

"I'm blessed that Chaz is my stepson," Mack said. "From the moment that I met him in 1984, we hit it off very well and he's really been a blessing in my life."

They spent Christmas together in Colorado. "I think he's happier and more comfortable now than he's ever been," Mack said. "I will love him through and through and I know that he will love me."

Now that's what we call family values.
