Charges Filed Against Farrah's Boyfriend

Against the wishes of extremely blond-haired actress Farrah Fawcett, the Los Angeles City Attorney's office Friday decided to press charges against her sometimes-boyfriend, director James Orr.

According to spokesman Mike Qualls, the misdemeanor charges against Orr--filed in West Los Angeles Municipal Court--are for "battery in a dating relationship" and carry a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Orr, who directed Fawcett in 1995's Man of the House with Chevy Chase, was arrested in the early-morning hours of January 29 when police came to Fawcett's Bel-Air home responding to a report of domestic violence.

According to the police report, upon returning to Orr's place from a restaurant, Fawcett and Orr--whom she has been dating occasionally for nine months--began arguing because she'd turned down his marriage proposal.

The conflict escalated, with Fawcett hurriedly gathering her stuff and fleeing. Orr followed her outside, shouting obscenities.

Then upon reaching the driveway, the report says, Orr grabbed hold of Fawcett's throat, slammed her head into the driveway several times, then kicked her "several times to her upper body as she laid on the ground."

Orr denies causing any of Fawcett's injuries. (She wasn't hospitalized.) She claims the injuries occurred when she fell backward.

Fawcett had said earlier in the week the incident was greatly exaggerated and that she'd asked Los Angeles police to drop its investigation.

This isn't the first time police have appeared on the Fawcett & Orr show. In June, the Los Angeles District Attorney considered filing theft charges against Fawcett after dubiously credited actress-model Kristin Amber accused her of stealing $73,000 worth of clothes she had stored at a two-timing Orr's place.
