It's a good thing Céline Dion's alarm goes on and on.

An intruder was nabbed Monday afternoon at the singer's Quebec mansion after he allegedly broke in, grabbed a snack and drew a bath, the Laval Police Department confirmed to E! News. Dion, hubby René Angellil and their kids were not home—or even in town—at the time.

But while they were out, the accused burglar sure made himself right at home.

"He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath (and) he even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge," police spokesman Franco Di Genova said of the suspect, 36-year-old Daniel Bedard.

Di Genova said that Bedard apparently tried to open a door to the house, but, when that didn't work, he grabbed keys and a garage door opener from one of Angellil's cars (which was unlocked) and gained access that way.

Moreover, Di Genova said, Bedard was completely startled by police when they showed up with a K-9 unit in response to a 911 call from a security guard, who heard Dion's alarm go off at around 5 p.m.

"The suspect was coming down the big staircase and was asking: 'Hey, guys what are you doing here?'," Di Genova said. "So the officers replied: 'What are you doing here?' and they proceeded to put him under arrest."

Bedard, who was taken into custody without incident, was arraigned today on charges of breaking and entering, auto theft and causing property damage. He was released under "severe conditions," per authorities, and is due back in court on Nov. 21.
