Cate Blanchett: It's a Boy!
Forget Hobbits. Cate Blanchett has a new little guy to get excited over.
The Lord of the Rings star gave birth to her second son on Friday, according to her publicist.
Roman Robert was born in London. No other details were released.
(For those keeping score at home, this is the second celebrity scion to be named Roman in the past week; Debra Messing has decided to call her new son Roman Walker.)
The 34-year-old thesp and her hubby, screenwriter Andrew Upton, also have a two-year-old son, Dashiell John. Blanchett and Upton, a fellow Aussie, have been married since 1997.
News of the pregnancy was released last fall along with a slew of Blanchett flicks, including Veronica Guerin, The Missing and, of course, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
The mom-to-be even managed to finish working on Martin Scorsese's Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, playing Katharine Hepburn, one of the mogul's many gal-pals, before preparing for baby.
And while the impending delivery did force her to bow out of Mike Nichols' Closer, opposite Jude Law, Blanchett still has a busy schedule this year.
Along with diaper duty, she'll appear in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic alongside Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Anjelica Huston, but first she'll star in the Jim Jarmusch indie Coffee and Cigarettes, coming out May 14.
