Britney's Boob Tube Dream
Is Britney Spears the next Oprah? Not quite.
But the pop princess is setting her sights on becoming a TV mogul at the ripe old age of 21--she's in talks to executive produce her very own syndicated chatfest, her publicist confirms to E! News Live.
No immediate word on what hot topics the talk show will explore, since it's still in development, but the Britney-helmed talker is expected to skew toward younger viewers and have a format similar to other daytime yakkers.
Her rep says the Britster has no plans to emcee the program, but the entertainer might make an occasional appearance. Spears, of course, is something of a tube veteran, having been a regular on the Mickey Mouse Club when she was just 11.
Spears is emerging from her self-imposed hiatus. She took to the pages of W magazine and admitted to losing her virginity to former flame Justin Timberlake. She also held forth about their painful breakup and life now that she's of legal drinking age.
She has also begun work on a new album and is rumored to be in contention for the role of Daisy Duke in a big-screen version of The Dukes of Hazzard.
Spears is expected to debut a couple of her new cuts during a mini-set at Washington, D.C.'s National Mall on September 4 to kick off the National Football League's new season.
Joining her on stage will be soul legend Aretha Franklin, who'll be singing the national anthem, as well as R&B diva Mary J. Blige. The trio will perform as part of the NFL's tribute to America's men and women in uniform, 20,000 of whom are expected to turn out for the concert with an additional 800,000 troops watching from abroad.
NFL Kickoff Live will air on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. and will be followed at 9 p.m. with the Washington Redskins-New York Jets game at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
