Britney, Paris Get Blackwell-Listed

Britney Spears and Paris Hilton may have made some dubious choices during the past year, but chief among them, at least according to Mr. Blackwell, were their sartorial ones.

The self-appointed first officer of the fashion police has deemed the partying pals the co-Worst Dressed Stars of 2006.

In his 47th annual diss list, Blackwell called Spears and Hilton "two peas in an overexposed pod," adding further insult to pentameter-induced injury by proclaiming them "style-free and fashion deprived...the 'screamgirls' have arrived!"

Blackwell, who in addition to honing his delivery of catty couplets over the years has spent more than three decades as a fashion designer, targeted other fashion victims for 2006.

Prince Charles' chapeau-donning other half, Camilla Parker-Bowles, was deemed the second-worst dressed celeb, with a less than flattering reference as "the Duchess of Dowdy."

Checking in at number three was Spears and Hilton's sometime partner in clubbing, Lindsay Lohan, whom Blackwell dinged for being "tragically trapped in fashion's fast lane...From adorable to deplorable."

And despite her makeover, Christina Aguilera's wardrobe also failed to wow Blackwell, who delivered: "La Diva Christina is a fabulous singer...but she puts good taste through the wardrobe wringer! All crass, no class."

Spears and Aguilera weren't the only popsters to make the unwanted cut: Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul pulled rank at fifth and sixth place. Carey was dubbed a "Fashion Pariah" and the "Queen of Catastrophic Kitsch." The American Idol judge, meanwhile, who wore more than her share of floral patterns last year, had her outfits reduced to "fiascos that grow moldier by the hour."

Sharon Stone ("it's clear Sharon's misplaced her fashion gift—she looks like an over-the-hill Cruella De Ville—after a seismic shift!"), Tori Spelling ("all chills and no thrills—guess Tori's 'down and out in Beverly Hills!' ") and Sandra Oh ("drowning in beads, bangles and prehistoric bows, she's layered lunacy—from toes to nose") also made the list, while Meryl Streep rounded out the bottom 10—apparently not even starring in The Devil Wears Prada could ingratiate her to Blackwell.

"Her beauty-of-a-career cannot be denied," the hyphen-happy pundit said, "but that beast-of-a-wardrobe is pure mother of the bride."

Blackwell, though, did give props—though sadly, not rhyming ones—to a select group of fashionistas.

Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes and Beyoncé got name-checked as the year's Fashion Fabulous Independents, as did Marcia Cross, Heidi Klum, Helen Mirren and Barbra Streisand.

And to prove that the world's most stylish women don't all hail from Hollywood, unlikely fashion plates Nancy Pelosi and Princess Charlotte of Monaco also made the cut.
