Mom Bristol Palin may have been the one dancing, but Tripp Palin is the real star here.

The 2 1/2-year-old steals every scene in the new Lifetime series, Bristol Palin: Life's a Trip, as evidenced by these exclusive clips from next Tuesday's episode.

Not only is the bouncy little guy just cute to look at, but try not tearing up when auntie Willow tells him that his mommy's sad, and he looks at her with wonder in his eyes and asks, "Why?"

Well, Tripp, your mommy's sad because she feels that she has "failed as a mom."

"I failed as a mom because I picked the worst possible candidate in the world that I could have been dating and got pregnant with," Bristol laments to her little sis after she starts skimming ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston's memoir on her iPad.

"Tripp was what God gave me...I just wish anyone else could have been his dad," the 21-year-old says.

Lucky for Bristol, a little "I love you" back and forth with Tripp is the best mood-booster around.

Later on, she's complaining about Levi once again while lunching in L.A. with Willow and Tripp. (This was taped before news broke that Levi is expecting a baby with his current girlfriend.)

But it's Tripp to the rescue again when Bristol, noticing a paparazzo snapping away from across the street, encourages Tripp to stick his tongue out at him.

"Go ahead, I dare you," she says.

Check out this next clip to see if the wily toddler takes her up on it. Any guesses? (Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Lifetime.)
