Brinkley Single, Joel Exhausted

Christie Brinkley is about to become a model singleton.

The erstwhile CoverGirl has officially filed for divorce from philandering hubby Peter Cook, just two months after the architect copped to an affair with a teenaged former employee.

The 52-year-old mother of three, who has been estranged from Cook since his public confession in July, filed the papers in New York's Suffolk County Court earlier this week.

While Brinkley has yet to comment on the filing, which marks her fourth divorce, Cook's legal team is much more forthcoming on its client's reaction to the impending split.

"[Cook] regrets that this happened," attorney David Aronson told the Associated Press. "He was hopeful that they would be able to work through this problem and put their marriage back together, but obviously she has decided otherwise.

"He has instructed us that we are to handle this matter in as amicable and private a fashion as possible under the circumstances, and he hopes that everyone out there can respect the privacy of Christie and the children."

The request for privacy is standard in high-profile splits, but surprising nonetheless for a marriage whose collapse was not only detailed in, but at times spoon-fed to, the press.

Brinkley announced plans to separate from her 47-year-old hubby in July. Less than a week later, 19-year-old Diana Bianchi came forth, claiming she had carried on a yearlong affair with the architect and threatening a sexual-harassment lawsuit after he hired her to work as his personal assistant when she was just 17 years old.

Days later, another of Cook's underage affairs came too light as former pop-singer Samantha Cole said she had a fling with Cook while he was dating but before he became engaged to Brinkley in 1996.

Cook fessed up to his philandering ways, and issued an apology to the "Uptown Girl" via the New York tabloids, calling his behavior an "aberration," himself "stupid" and Brinkley someone he spent "a lifetime" proving his love too.

Funny way of showing it, though.

Cook and Brinkley, who tied the knot in 1996, have two children together, eight-year-old daughter Sailor and 11-year-old son Jack, whom Cook adopted when he married Brinkley. The supermodel also has a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, with ex-hubby number two, Billy Joel.

As if the divorce wasn't bad enought, Alexa Ray caused her mother some additional anxiety last week.

E! Online Senior Editor Marc Malkin reports that the 20-year-old aspiring singer was rushed to the hospital last Saturday after passing out on her way to a gig at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

"I ended up fainting from stress, lack of sleep and just overall exhaustion about five minutes before the show," Joel writes on her MySpace page.

The second-generation performer, who was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, said doctors have advised her to slow down.

"This has never happened before, but I guess I was really pushing myself to the limit this week," she continues. "I was having quite a bit of anxiety in general that day, so I guess this was just my body's way of telling me to RELAX...something I haven't done in a while."

The younger Joel was scheduled to return to the stage this Saturday in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, but scrapped the date in the wake of her hospitaliztion.

"It's just one date she's missing," her rep tells Malkin. "She's simply under the weather."
