Bret Michaels Crowns, Avoids Pronouncing Miss Universe 2010

Welcome to the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant, brought to you by the United Republic of Spray Tan.

With cohost Bret Michaels only slightly salivating nearby, a new beauty queen was crowned Monday at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay following a strut around the stage in a swimsuit, a glide across the floor in a gown, and the always kinda awkward Q&A session.

Some more awkward than others, of course.

After all was said and strutted, Jimena Navarrete, 22, of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2010.

"No puedo pensar nada," the beaming brunette said in Spanish, basically meaning that her mind was a blank at the moment.

First runner-up was Jamaica's Yendi Phillipps, 24, who (in our opinion) topped Navarrete in the Q&A session by actually giving an unambiguous answer, but who may have been undone by her tacky cap-sleeved turquoise beaded number in the evening-wear portion of the competition.

Meanwhile, Navarrete's single-shoulder red gown came with its own wind and her train billowed behind her on the catwalk.

"You look beautiful," Michaels told the Mexican beauty, not bothering to take a go at pronouncing her name after not being able to get the hang of "Stefania Fernandez," aka the outgoing Miss Universe who was on hand to crown her successor tonight.

Navarrete wins a whole bunch of good girly stuff, including a year's supply of hair products and makeup; designer shoe, swimwear and dress collections; and a scholarship from the New York Film Academy for either its filmmaking or acting program.

Australia's Jesinta Campbell took the title of Miss Congeniality, while Thailand's Fonthip Watcharatrakul was named Miss Photogenic and won for Favorite National Costume, all honors bestowed by online voters.
