Bo on Road to Recovery
American Idol star Bo Bice and Dick Cheney have something in common: They both know what it's like to be whisked to an "undisclosed location."
The singer has been released from the hospital and is currently recovering from intestinal surgery in an "undisclosed place for more R&R," Donny Acton, Pastor of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bice's native Alabama, told the Associated Press Thursday.
"It's pretty serious stuff, and you can still get an infection."
Bice, 29, underwent emergency surgery at Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas Friday to treat a blockage in his intestines. He had fallen ill a day earlier during the Sin City stop on the American Idols Live! tour.
According to a posting on the Website for his band, Sugarmoney, the operation was successful, though Bice reportedly must return home to rest for a minimum of six weeks, which would mean that he would not be returning to the Idols Live! tour.
It's been a rough summer for the Alabama rocker. Earlier this month, he broke his foot during a show in Manchester, New Hampshire, but vowed to continue performing.
"There's no keeping me from the tour," Bice told People magazine at the time.
Then, two weeks ago in Los Angeles, Bice's half-brother, John Cohran, and his pregnant wife were hospitalized after their car slid into an 18-wheeler on their way home from an Idols Live! show. Both have since been released, per the Decatur Daily News.
No official statement regarding Bice's condition has been released from either American Idol's TV publicist or the tour promoter.
