Some sad news out of the country music world.

The father of singer Blake Shelton died on Tuesday.

"Mr. [Dick] Shelton, who was in declining health this past year, was surrounded by loved ones in Oklahoma upon his passing this evening," read a statement posted to The Voice star's website.

In light of his loss, Shelton has postponed four concert dates of his "Well Lit & Amplified" tour in order to be with his family.

The shows in Bismarck, N.D., Rapid City, S.D., Bozeman, Mont., and Billings, Mont., originally scheduled for this week, will now take place at the end of March.

"I appreciate your understanding during this difficult time and thank you for all your prayers," said the singer in a statement to his fans. "Your support means the world to me. I love you guys."

Shelton's tour is set to resume on Jan. 26 in Columbus, Ga.

Meanwhile, the singer's wife, country music sensation Miranda Lambert, also announced that she has rescheduled this weekend's shows of her "On Fire" tour due to the death of her father-in-law. For more info on her makeup dates, visit her website, MirandaLambert.com.

"Thank you to the fans for all the support and prayers," Lambert said in a statement. "This is a really difficult time for our family and the most important thing is being together. Tell your loved ones you love them. See you next week."
