Blackwell Bags on 1998's Fashion Impaired
If that's the case, we better hit Bloomingdale's. Fast.
See, our self-proclaimed, phone-tapping dopplegänger has the dubious dishonor of heading up Mr. Blackwell's 39th annual list of "Worst Dressed Women."
"Linda's bad fashion 'tripp' is beyond debate--she looks like a sheepdog in drag," the ever-catty Blackwell announced Tuesday.
The onetime dress designer didn't stop at Tripp. His No. 2 clothing catastrophe: Madonna ("Mama Madonna has become a neo-Gothic fright--a glitzy gargoyle searching for a Ray of Fashion Light.")
Titanic heroine Kate Winslet didn't fare much better, landing in third. "From gaudy gowns to creepy combat boots, Kate's a fashion panic--in fact, her whole wardrobe should have gone down with the Titanic," quipped Blackwell in rhyme.
And while cross-dressing Dennis Rodman, who topped the list in '96, was MIA this time around, his gal-pal Carmen Electra ("fashion Viagra--in heels") wound up at No. 4.
Others singled out as sartorially challenged in 1998: Courtney Love (more like "cold cuts and Spam" than "Goddess of Glam"), Mariah Carey ("shrinkwrapped cheesecake"), Marisa Tomei, Sigourney Weaver ("If you are looking for an Alien..."), Sandra Bullock ("Victorian lamp shade on the loose") and ER costar Alex Kingston ("She mixed, she matched...she missed").
Blackwell also obliges us with his picks for the 10 most stylish women of last year. Making the cut as "Fabulous Fashion Independents": Gwyneth Paltrow, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Minnie Driver, Roma Downey, Titanic's other Rose, Gloria Stuart, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Kim Basinger.
