Björk, Celine, Incubus Get Charitable

Icelandic pop imp Björk knows just what to do with all those unused "Army of Me" remixes laying around her studio--make a charity record out of them.

The singer has decided to release a two-CD compilation of remixes and cover versions of the track on U.K. label One Little Indian, with all proceeds to go to UNICEF, her publicist announced Wednesday.

"Army of Me" originally appeared on the art-rock star's 1995 release Post, and has been covered and/or remixed by numerous bands, including Helmet and Mike D of the Beastie Boys.

The 40-year-old Björk also has a number of remixes she did on her own, as well as unsolicited versions that fans have sent in.

"The mixes have ranged [from] high-energy to death metal," the singer said in a post on her Website.

"These versions of the song have been gathering dust in the corner of a hard drive or not-so-seedy office."

Still, Björk does not have enough quite material to fill the double-disc set so she put out the call this week for submissions from muscians in all genres the world over.

Aspiring remixers are to send their versions of "Army of Me" to bjorkremixes@gmail.com by Jan. 17. (All MP3 submissions must be encoded to 128kbs and each submission much include artist and credit information.)

The label hopes to drop the disc in late February or early March.

Meanwhile, Celine Dion has also tabbed UNICEF as the beneficiary of her magnanimity.

The Canadian chanteuse plans to donate proceeds from a special Mother's Day concert in Las Vegas to UNICEF's tsunami relief fund.

"Like everyone else in the world, I've been devastated by the loss and suffering of so many," Dion said in a statement Wednesday.

Dion expects to raise at least $1 million from the concert, which will take place May 8 at the 4,000-seat Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where Celine has been holding down her successful residency since 2003.

Finally, Incubus decided to join fellow SoCal rock band Linkin Park's charitable efforts this week, announcing donations through the band's nonprofit organization, the Make Yourself Foundation.

Incubus will give $100,000 to the American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund and plans to also contribute cash to several other organizations, as well.

"The magnitude of the tsunami disaster is truly overwhelming," the band said in a statement Wednesday, "and we can only hope that this donation can help bring some relief to the people who've been affected by it."
