Bizarre New Couple Alert: Russell Simmons and...Melissa George?!

It's a match made in…well, we're still trying to figure that one out.
But Melissa George and Russell Simmons made head turns—and not just because of their unabashed PDAs—when the suddenly (and quite unexpectedly) loved-up duo made their public debut as a couple over the weekend at a Hamptons charity event hosted by the hip hop mogul.
Yeah, this is one coupling we're pretty sure no one saw coming. Least of all George's husband…

Though, at this point, it's probably safe to call him her estranged husband. At least, we hope that's what he is.
There was never any formal announcement of a split or separation, but George was last seen in public with her husband of 11 years, Chilean film director Claudio Dabed, in Los Angeles in March.
Cut to last Wednesday, when the 34-year-old Grey's Anatomy alum and the 53-year-old Simmons were caught kissing it up in the stands of a MLS All-Star soccer game against Manchester United in New Jersey.
Then, on Saturday, the duo made it official, marking their public debut as a twosome by arriving arm-in-arm to the 12th annual Art for Life Benefit in East Hampton. The couple didn't seem shy about their burgeoning relationship, and happily mingled in a crowd that included Simmons' ex-wife Kimora Lee and her new husband, Djimon Hounsou.
Color us baffled. Happy for them, but baffled all the same.
