Basinger's Date Still On

Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin's date is still on. Court date, that is.

On Wednesday, a Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner declined to toss out 12 contempt of court charges against Basinger, who is accused of neglecting to comply with court orders in her ongoing (and seemingly everlasting) custody battle with Baldwin.

Though the warring duo reached an agreement in 2004 to split custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Ireland, they have had trouble dividing up their parenting duties to mutual satisfaction ever since.

Among other claims, Baldwin alleges that his ex-wife neglected to let him know that she would be out of town so that he could care for his daughter in her absence and to notify him of an injury Ireland suffered in April that required medical attention.

Basinger pleaded not guilty to the 12 misdemeanor charges earlier this month and waived her right to appear at the Feb. 16 trial date set in the matter. Baldwin, on the other hand, is expected to take the stand.

In addition to upholding the counts against the actress Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Maren E. Nelson ordered her to turn over travel records to Baldwin and his attorney showing occasions when she traveled without her daughter since September 2005.

Baldwin's lawyer, Vikki Greene, wants the records to prove that Basinger has been less than forthcoming about her globetrotting.

"She even admits she was gone, what she won't say is how long she was gone," Greene said, per Los Angeles' City News Service.

Basinger's attorneys argued that the documents should be kept confidential to protect the Oscar-winner's privacy.

Outside the courtroom, the actress' attorney, Neal Hersh, called Baldwin "pathetic" for trying to have Basinger held in contempt rather than entering joint therapy with Ireland to repair any damage to their father-daughter relationship.

If convicted of all the charges against her, Basinger could serve up to 60 days in jail and pay a $12,000 fine.
