Banks and Buck Busted

Lloyd Banks and Young Buck, two of the most prominent hip-hopsters belonging to 50 Cent's G-Unit collective, were busted Monday night on a felony gun possession rap following their performance at New York's Madison Square Garden as part of the Anger Management 3 tour.

According to a police spokesman, the Men in Blue stopped a van carrying Banks and Buck and 11 other men at 41st and Eighth Avenue after it was allegedly spotted running a red light. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a loaded .40 caliber handgun on the floor and a loaded .357 handgun on 29-year-old Steven Roker.

As a result, all 13 of the van's occupants were taken into custody and charged with illegal possession of a firearm. Another passenger, Darryl Lighty, was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

The entourage--which also included Ronald Knight, 20; Eugene Cedric, 26; Dante Reed, 27; Clinton Skinner, 41; Terry Biles, 35; Paul McFarlane, 29; Terrence LaJuan, 29; Curtis Williams, 29; and Paris Fowler, 22--spent the night in jail before their release Tuesday morning.

The 24-year-old Buck (real name David Darnell Brown) and 23-year-old Banks (born Christopher Lloyd) shrugged off the arrests when they performed at Tuesday night's final Anger Management concert at MSG. MTV quoted Buck telling the crowd, "I'm back," while during a rendition of the song "Playboy" Banks boasted about his new gangsta cred.

"I just spent the night in jail. Y'all better put your hands up!" the hip-hopster yelled.

Still obsessing over his run-in with the law, at the show's end, he was heard shouting: "Ain't a mutha------' thing changed. It's still f--- the police! And I ain't going to jail, either."

Interscope Records, the label for Banks and Buck (which sounds like a comedy team to us) declined to comment on the incident.

But given it was a hip-hop show, headlined by Eminem and Fiddy no less, the NYPD wasn't taking any chances. Heavy security surrounded the venue and audience members were screened for weapons before entering. All went smoothly however and authorities' fears of violence proved unfounded.

The G-Unit posse is no stranger to the police.

In December, Young Buck turned himself in to face the music on an assault with a deadly weapon charge during an infamous brawl at last year's Vibe Awards. Brown allegedly stabbed an ex-con in retaliation after the man sucker-punched the rapper's mentor Dr. Dre.

50 Cent has also suffered the occasional legal snafu, such as when he escaped jail time last May for allegedly assaulting concertgoers at a Springfield, Massachusetts club.
