The Avengers Assembles and Takes Cleveland by Storm!

Shooting on the highly anticipated film takes place on the city's streets with one of the movie's stars reporting for duty

That's what plenty of extras (not to mention the hundreds of folks watching from the sidelines) have been hearing ever since filming began in downtown Cleveland yesterday on the highly anticipated multihero action flick The Avengers.

And with all the explosions and cars being tossed in the air on a street made to look like one in NYC, you'd think maybe the Hulk was just having a bad day or something. But Mark Ruffalo, who plays the angry green guy in the movie, was nowhere to be found.

However, there was another one of the film's hunky stars who was on set to witness all the faux carnage...

None other than Chris Evans, aka Captain America.

Sporting a leather bomber jacket and later his full superhero get-up, the actor looked relaxed and ready to work as he conversed with director Joss Whedon prior to stepping in front of the cameras himself.

Other members of the cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Samuel L. Jackson, are also reportedly scheduled to shoot in Cleveland this week.

The Avengers is slated to hit theaters May 4.
