Can I save my favorite TV show?
Is Veronica Mars canceled for good?

Can fan outrage over Jericho really save a canceled show?
—Kerrie, Birmingham, Alabama
The B!tch Replies: Why fret so much over the loss of shows like Veronica Mars, when soon you will have Nancy Drew, featuring another perfectly nice girl detective who loves her dad as much as she hates injustice? She'll be huge—and on the big screen!
Be of good cheer, children. This is America.
We need never go more than three minutes without our right to bear arms...and at least one TV show or movie about a crime-fighting teen. Besides, that old crime-fighting teen wasn't really related to anybody. This new crime-fighting teen is Julia Roberts' niece.
Why can't that be enough for you? Clearly, it isn't.
You want your Veronica Mars and your Jericho back. Well, one out of two ain't bad. By now, you rabid fans have learned that the latter has been resurrected for a new, short season. However, Veronica Mars has been axed.
I would simply say, Kay, that your cause is doomed, but you wouldn't believe me. You need a second person to tell you that your cause is doomed. Fine, then—here's the B!tchling, who moonlights as a TV reporter for this very Website.
"The chances of saving Veronica Mars are, optimistically, slim to none," says the B!tchling, aka Korbi Ghosh, who does nothing but obsess over this stuff for a living. "The CW made its decision about what would be on the fall schedule at the upfronts, the yearly convention of sorts at which the networks present all the upcoming season's programming.
"Veronica Mars was not part of the CW's presentations, and therefore, it has been effectively canceled," Ghosh confirms. "Once a show is canceled, a revival is almost unheard of."
Rarely, a canceled show is resurrected—Family Guy was one such case—but it takes an overwhelming display of fan anguish and a certain amount of inertia on the part of the actors. If the cast gets restless and splits, it's hard to get them all back together.
If you're still determined to save your beloved Veronica, don't bother sending angry letters to the network suits. Instead, buy the DVDs by the baleful and hope the suits notice. Then maybe you won't have to go searching for another crime-fighting teenager on basic cable.
