File this one under medical non-mysteries.

George Hamilton, the famously tan actor and onetime serial starlet dater, recently underwent treatment for skin cancer and his prognosis is excellent, his rep confirmed Wednesday to E! News.

More importantly, the Love at First Bite star did not have melanoma, the most serious form of the disease.

"Yes, it is true. He did have a medical procedure due to some skin cancer that was removed," rep Jeffrey Lane said.

"He has been in the sun for years and years and years, and has managed to escape sun damage. This was something that several months ago he was told he would have to have."

While Hamilton obviously didn't entirely escape sun damage, it is great news that his condition was totally treatable.

"He did have them removed, but it certainly isn't life threatening" Lane said. "He is absolutely fine."

Better yet? Lane says that the dapper 71-year-old, who will be replacing Kelsey Grammer in La Cage aux Folles on Broadway soon, is now using sunscreen!
