Another Jolie-Pitt a Possiblity
Angelina Jolie wants people to know that she's not pregnant. (More specifically, she's "on the pill.") But, in Jolie-Pitt world, there could still be a baby on the way.
The Oscar winner said in an interview with Good Morning America this week that, while having another biological child with Brad Pitt is a possibility for the future, they are more likely to extend their family tree by way of adoption.
"I even think that I did make it clear that we would think about adopting next, which is important for me in the balance of how...in our family, our kids perceive it," Jolie told Diane Sawyer. "I want [Maddox] to know that as our family grew and we all came together, we didn't just start having children, biological children.
"Yes, we have Shiloh and it's been a wonderful experience, but we want to find another brother or sister in the world for our family."
Jolie also wanted to make it clear that she and Pitt aren't trying to purposely assemble their own mini-United Nations at home (which tends to vary from place to place, what with all the film roles and humanitarian missions).
"You know, now the questions are more when you have a mixed-race family, do you balance the races so there's another African person in the house for [Zahara]?" she said. "So there's another Asian person in the house for Madd? Shiloh has Brad and me that she can look at."
(Making six-month-old Shiloh the envy of many full-grown people all over the world.)
And how has Pitt, who gave his name to Maddox and Zahara earlier this year, adjusted to playing the role of dad?
"He really enjoys them," Jolie said. "He woke up very, very early this morning and let me sleep in because I had this interview...dealing with the two girls and bottles and food, which is not easy to do, on his own, for quite a few hours this morning so I could rest. He's just a really great partner, a great, great man."
We hear he's good-looking, too.
"When we met, I was already a mother," recalled Jolie, who adopted Maddox in 2002 and Zahara in 2005, shortly after hooking up with Pitt. "So, I think I had kind of found my way as a mom. And I think the reason we came together is we agreed on the way—I had discovered parenting—in the way he planned to parent and that was a big part of us coming together."
And apparently, according to Jolie, part of Pitt's plan was to play the softy.
"I am the disciplinarian," she says in the latest issue of People. "Brad can be, but if Z doesn't get the bottle from me, she'll very quickly run to Daddy."
The mother of three described Maddox as "very smart," with "a certain sense of calm," but admitted that, if she had to pick one, Zahara probably has the run of the house.
"Zahara is possibly the funniest person I've ever met in my life," Jolie said. "So dramatic and creative and loud and charming. She's definitely the biggest personality in the house."
While it's hard to believe that any of the Jolie-Pitt brood would have a problem adjusting to the lap of luxury and having two parents who apparently worship the ground their tiny feet walk (or crawl) on, it still makes Jolie feel warm and fuzzy all over to hear that her children seem happy to the outside world.
"Somebody said to us recently that they were happy kids, and we talked about how much that meant to us to hear," Jolie told People. "And they're good kids. God knows how we managed to do that—but they're good kids."
Jolie, for one, is more than happy about the way life has turned out for her and Pitt, who woke up Thursday morning to find himself a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actor nominee for Babel.
"I'm very, very lucky," she said last week at a press junket for her latest film, the birth-of-the-CIA drama The Good Shepherd. "I love the different elements of my life. I love working abroad, and I love being with my kids and I love being with Brad.
"I'd like to add many more children and many more obstacles and many more things to my life."
