Anger Management Tour Bus Crashes
An Anger Management tour bus carrying members of Eminem's entourage was involved in a serious accident Wednesday night in Missouri.
Eleven people were seriously injured in the accident, including Em's deejay, Alchemist. Up-and-coming rapper Stat Quo was also banged up.
The injured were taken to area hospitals near the town of Odessa, Missouri. According to MTV News, Alchemist suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung, and is currently receiving care at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Eminem protégé Stat Quo was treated for bruises and released from Independence Regional Health Center in Independence, Missouri. Stat Quo's manager, Joseph Fendrick, and Alchemist's manager, Neil Maman, are listed in fair to good condition after being treated at medical facilities near the crash site. The tour bus driver, Charlie Gilligard, is also said to be well considering the ferocity of the impact. Other passengers on the coach are also listed in fair or good condition Thursday.
Slim Shady and fellow tour headliners 50 Cent and Lil Jon were not on the bus Wednesday.
Per MTV, which obtained a copy of the Missouri Highway Patrol accident report, the bus crashed early Wednesday evening on a busy section of Interstate 70.
According to the report, the coach was "traveling at a high rate of speed" when its driver attempted to avoid slower-moving tractor-trailers by swerving onto the highway's shoulder.
However, the driver clipped one of the trucks, causing a chain reaction on the highway, which involved several other cars and two motorcyclists.
Eventually, the bus overturned on the highway median, and lay on its side after veering into oncoming traffic lanes. A stretch of the highway had to be closed for more than two hours after the pileup.
Despite the major accident, the Anger Management 3 tour will press on. The tour stops in Denver Thursday, albeit without Alchemist. Stat Quo is a maybe for the gig, per record label Interscope.
The rappers then hit the road for a Sunday gig in Auburn, Washington.
