An "act of desperation for a flailing network"?
So says the Parents Television Council about NBC's inevitably controversial hiring of Howard Stern as a judge on America's Got Talent, which, so far, is doing exactly what it was meant to do—create major buzz.
"#howard stern is officially a new judge on AGT!!! Confirmed! So stoked—welcome to the NBC family!" The Voice host Carson Daly tweeted today, one of thousands of positively charged posts about the network's big move.
But the PTC, which opposed the very idea of Stern becoming a prime-time regular, had no qualms about sticking it to NBC ASAP.

Talk of Howard Stern coming to prime time, apparently.
The conservative media watchdog Parents Television Council is already up in arms over the very idea of the outspoken radio host joining America's Got Talent as a judge, calling it a move that "smacks of desperation" on NBC's part and would result in the "alienation of millions of viewers."
Well, get in line, PTC, because Stern never lacks for haters—as he so wryly pointed out on his own show today.

In Howard Stern's opinion, he'd be a great judge on pretty much anything—American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, a Herman Cain sexual-harassment accuser beauty pageant, etc.
The shock jock's name was briefly linked to Idol when it needed a judge to replace Paula Abdul, it turns out that NBC is now talking to the controversial radio host about joining America's Got Talent as a judge, now that Piers Morgan is leaving.

America's Got Talent is going to be down a bloke come summer.
Piers Morgan, the only judge remaining from the show's first season, announced today on CNN that he's leaving the hit NBC competition after six years on the job.
"Well, members of the Academy, I'm available!" he quipped, referencing the suddenly vacant post left by Eddie Murphy, who pulled out as host of the upcoming Oscars after scandal-plagued Brett Ratner resigned as producer.
America's Got Talent: Which "Brilliant" Act Won?!
With two British judges, every good act on America's Got Talent was bound to be "brilliant" at some point.
But only one could win $1 million and a headlining show in Las Vegas, and that act was revealed on Wednesday's season finale.
After thousands of people/groups/animals/weirdos, etc. auditioned and were eliminated week after week, it came down to Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Team iLuminate, Silhouettes and POPLYFE, all of whose fates were in the voters' hands following last night's performance finale.
