Amanda Peet's New Production

Amanda Peet has delivered, even if her show's ratings haven't.

The Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip star and her screenwriter husband, David Benioff, welcomed their first child together Tuesday, daughter Frances Pen.

"Amanda and her daughter are resting comfortably," the star's rep told E! News.

The newborn tipped the scales at 6 pounds, 10 ounces.

Peet, 35, and Benioff, 36, announced the pregnancy in September, just two weeks before tying the knot. Lest you think it was a shotgun wedding, the couple had been engaged since July 2005.

The way things look, Peet can take her time with maternity leave.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, woefully overhyped as the savior of the fall TV season, has effectively disappeared from prime time.

NBC has pulled the ratings-deprived Aaron Sorkin brainchild (its season high, a scant 13.4 million viewers, was achieved during the series premiere) from the schedule and will replace it beginning next Monday with The Black Donnellys. No air date has been set for Studio 60's six remaining episodes.

In October, prior to the ratings nosedive (Studio 60 has bottomed out with 7 million viewers in recent weeks), Sorkin announced he would incorporate Peet's pregnancy into the show's storyline. In recent episodes, her small-screen alter ego, NBS president Jordan McDeere, has been fretting over impending mommyhood despite support from boyfriend Danny Tripp (Bradley Whitford).

Peet pulled it off. But we may never know about McDeere.
