Amanda Peet Sweet on Trojan Man

Amanda Peet just starred in A Lot Like Love. Now she's ready for a real-life sequel.

The actress is engaged to marry her boyfriend of two years, Troy screenwriter David Benioff.

Peet's agent, Anne Van Iden, confirmed the engagement to People magazine but provided no further details on the future vow swapping. It will be the first marriage for both.

The 33-year-old Peet and her leading man have endured an on-again/off-again relationship that was believed to be "off again" as late as last May, per People.

"The thing about dating is, I am not good at it," Peet told the mag earlier this year. "I am a relationship person. Some people are comfortable being aloneÂÂ?Whatever the opposite of that is, I am. I'm not meant to be on my own."

Peet was previously linked with House of Wax's Brian Van Holt, whom she met while filming the 2000 indie Whipped.

She rose to fame as the lead in the WB's short-lived twentysomething drama Jack & Jill followed by big-screen roles opposite Bruce Willis in The Whole Nine Yards and alongside heavyweights Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton in Something's Gotta Give. She most recently played Ashton Kutcher's love interest in A Lot Like Love, released in April.

Benioff, 34, has made a name for himself by adapting his own novel, 25th Hour, for Spike Lee and for penning the epic Troy. He was recently tapped to write Marvel's Wolverine spinoff, starring X-Man Hugh Jackman, due out in 2007.

Peet currently has four films in production and will next be seen alongside George Clooney and Matt Damon in the Cold War thriller Syriana, hitting theaters Sept. 16.
