All-Stars Align for Amazing Race
Amazing Race: All-Stars may as well be called Amazing Race: Also-Rans.
CBS announced the official lineup for the reality show's 11th season Tuesday and while it has definitely been stacked with fan-favorite twosomes, including the previously announced return of Romber, only one of the 11 teams in competition is a previous Amazing Race champ.
Uchenna and Joyce Agu, who nabbed the $1 million prize during the show's seventh season, are the only pair of winners returning to defend their title.
"They all want our title and belt as champion, but we're here to keep it," Joyce Agu said on CBS' Early Show.
Among the chief wannabes are Rob and Amber Mariano, one of reality TV's most-chronicled couples. The former Survivor All-Stars runner-up, and his Survivor All-Stars-winning missus, narrowly lost out to the Agus on Amazing Race's seventh season.
"We're pretty excited to be back again to run the Amazing Race All-Stars," Rob Mariano said. "This time, we're getting first place. No more second. I'm sick of second place."
Also jonesing for another shot at unscripted glory are Team Guido, aka Joe Baldassare and Bill Bartek, as well as Drew Feinberg and Kevin O'Connor, all of whom competed on the perennial Emmy-winning series' first season.
Cousins Charla Baklayan Faddoul and Mirna Hindoyan, who competed in season five, are also joining in the cutthroat globe-trotting, as are other notable teams of yore—though some are returning, in true reality style, with an added twist.
Eric Sanchez and Danielle "Dee" Turner are teaming up for the first time to compete in the all-star edition. Both players appeared in season nine, though at the time were on separate teams, with Sanchez placing second and Turner, ninth. Since their installment aired, however, the twosome has begun dating and will be matched up for the new season.
On the other end of the love spectrum, season three alums John Vito Pietanza and Jill Aquilino, who were a couple during their edition, have since split up, but are nonetheless returning to compete as one team.
The most recent racers are season 10's beauty queens, Dustin Seltzer and Kandice Pelliter, and the so-called Team Kentucky, coal miner David Conley Jr. and his wife, Mary.
Production on Amazing Race: All-Stars, again hosted by Phil Keoghan, kicked off last November in Miami. It premieres on CBS Feb. 18.
