Akon and Missy Elliott Lived Through the Weekend, Contrary to Latest Celeb Death Hoaxes
The cold hand of fake touched the world of hip-hop and R&B this weekend.
"I'm Great ppl 4 all who keep asking! Alive and well! Enjoy ya night tweeps!" Missy Elliott tweeted Saturday after falling prey to the latest celebrity death hoax, which had offed the "Get Ur Freak On" rapper earlier in the day.
In response to a concerned fan the next day, she added, "Yea Sadly sum1 was that miserable to make up such a cruel rumor! It Makes me work harder make em mad!"
But Missy didn't not meet her maker alone...
Who's the Richest Rapper? Jay-Z, Kanye West or...um, Birdman?
We know Kanye West and a lot of his fellow bling-boasting hip-hop stars are living the good life. But just how good is it?
Forbes' list-o-mania continues with its unveiling of 2011's Hip-Hop Cash Kings, compiled according to how much the rappers banked over the past 12 months from album sales, touring, merchandise deals, business ventures, etc.
Despite all the sturm und drang that drags him down from time to time, Kanye, of course, made the list. Where does he rank, however, next to his latest collaborator, Jay-Z; old-timers like Dr. Dre and Birdman; or relative youngsters like Lil Wayne?
Watch Michael Jackson's First Posthumous Music Video
When the first line of the first official single from Michael Jackson's first (of many, we're guessing) posthumous albums is, "This life don't last forever," you don't exactly steel yourself for the most uplifting of tunes.
But that, more or less, is what "Hold My Hand," the first posthumous music video from the slowly opening MJ vault, provides. The video for Jackson's duet with Akon (which, it must be said, is rather heavy on the Akon), was released today, and basically—if you like Michael, you'll like it. If you don't, you won't.
Because, simply put: it's classic Jackson.
50 Cent, Akon, Lenny Kravitz Resurrect Michael Jackson (If It's Really Him) for New Album
Is it really him? Does it really matter at this point? 'Cause nothing's gonna stop the posthumous Michael Jackson money train.
On the heels of the premiere of the instantly controversial "Breaking News" comes word that the second single (but first official) from Michael, a duet with Akon recorded a mere, um, three years ago, will be released Monday.
Just three more sleeps! But with all due respect to Akon, what makes this song so special?
