30 Rock Aids and Abets a Soprano
You can't keep a good woman down.
If you never stopped believin' that Carmela Soprano would return to television, you were right. Edie Falco has been tapped to guest star on the critically acclaimed yet unexplainably little-watched 30 Rock.
The Emmy-winning actress, whose iconic run as the aforementioned mob wife ended in June, will appear in three episodes, according to NBC, joining an already illustrious roster of guest talent that includes Jerry Seinfeld, Will Arnett, Rip Torn and incoming View cohost Sherri Shepherd.
"I have laughed out loud at this show, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with such great comedic actors," Falco said. "I am very excited."
Also eagerly anticipating Falco's arrival is star and executive producer Tina Fey, who has a thing or two to ask the three-time Emmy winner.
"We're thrilled to have such an amazing actress come join us," Fey said. "Also, a lot of guys on our crew want The Sopranos ending explained to them."
Falco, who's up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama yet again this month, can feel confident in her latest career move. 30 Rock snagged 10 Emmy nominations in its freshman season, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting nods for Fey, Alec Baldwin and guest actress Elaine Stritch.
And 30 Rock isn't the only critical darling planning to host some additional familiar faces this fall.
According to TV Guide's Website, Alyssa Milano will have a multiepisode arc on My Name Is Earl, playing a potential, and surely quirky, love interest for Jason Lee.
But before Earl has time for a conjugal visit, he'll have to deal with the management at his new home, aka prison. E! Online's Kristin Veitch reports that Craig T. Nelson has signed on to play the warden at Camden County Jail, where Earl will be cooling his heels for most of the fall season.
Milano has apparently been enlisted as the "sexy, bad-girl type" whom Earl romances while behind bars.
Ugly Betty, meanwhile, is seeking more of a That Girl type. Emmy winner Marlo Thomas will guest star this season as jewelry company owner Sandra Winthrop, a woman of a certain age who has a thing for younger men—namely Mode editor-in-chief Daniel Meade.
And while Ugly Betty is borrowing Phil Donahue's wife, it will lend Rebecca Romijn to hubby Jerry O'Connell's new sitcom Carpoolers, in which the model-actress will play O'Connell's "wildly sexy and free-spirited ex-wife," per ABC.
