A suit involving Wilco? Roger that.

A former member of the Grammy-winning alt-rocking outfit is claiming he was stiffed on royalties by band mastermind Jeff Tweedy and is now suing mad.

Multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett says he is owed money from his his seven-year run with the band, per the Chicago Sun-Times, a stint that included five albums (among them the 1999 orchestral pop masterpiece Summer Teeth) and an appearance in the 2002 documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart (which chronicled the bizarro adventures recording Yankee Hotel Foxtrot).

Bennett exited the group in 2001, citing "creative differences." While he's pursued various other projects, he's apparently strapped for cash, writing on his MySpace page that he needs the Wilco money for an upcoming hip-replacement operation and months of therapy.

In a statement, Tweedy said he has done nothing wrong and hopes the matter will be handled fairly.

Wilco's self-titled eighth studio album hits stores June 30.
