White Stripes Stay Grounded

Meg White's anxiety-induced ban on travel apparently extends to flights across the pond.

After canceling the remaining dates of their U.S. fall tour last week, the White Stripes have gone on to call off the U.K. leg as well.

The Detroit rock duo had been slated to kick off their eight-date tour of Britain on Oct. 24 in Glasgow and to wrap it up Nov. 2 in London.

"They thank you for your understanding and well wishes," said a posting on the band's official Website.

The twosome had previously stated that Meg White was "suffering from acute anxiety and is unable to travel at this time." There was no further word on the drummer's condition.

Ticketholders will be able to obtain refunds at the point of purchase, according to the band's Website.

Before they were stalled by so-called health issues, the Stripes were touring in support of their latest album, Icky Thump, which debuted at number two on the Billboard charts in June.

It's not the first time the Stripes have been forced to rework a tour due to health concerns.

In 2003, the band postponed its summer tour after Jack White broke his finger in a car crash.  The dates were later rescheduled.
