'Twas a short week, mail-delivery-wise and stuff, but as you know, the entertainment news cycle never sleeps. And just as we burned through whatever the celeb gods gave us as fast as we could, so do we offer a roundup of the biggest water-cooler moments:
1. Prop 8 is still legal, meaning gay marriage remains illegal in California, a high court decision that prompted celebs of all stripes to take to their bully pulpits. Aka Twitter. Some took to the streets as well, and Marc Malkin was there, when he wasn't talking to Charlize...
2. American Idol aftermath: Clay Aiken didn't really apologize for dissing Adam Lambert's "Ring of Fire" vocals, Adam finally responded (and it burned, burned, burned) and the discussion about the runner-up's sexuality continues (even Mom's in on it). Meanwhile, AT&T denies rigging the vote for Kris Allen, who was seen fit to jam with Mike Huckabee. Yup.
3. The season premiere of Jon & Kate Plus 8 scored a record-huge audience—and TLC is loving every skin-crawling minute of it. Also, Kate's brother's tale of two spouses is ripe for the telling for the bargain price of $30,000, and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry is looking into how the Plus 8 are doing, which the Answer Bitch was also curious about...
4. Rihanna's going to be called to testify against Chris Brown (who is not a monster) and she will comply, according to the songbird's attorney.
5. Mel Gibson's girlfriend is pregnant. As if the Awful Truth didn't know that already.
6. So a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer film is in the works—without the help of Joss Whedon, Sarah Michelle Gellar or anyone else who made the TV show awesome. Why can't people learn from Willow's mistakes and not mess with magic they don't understand?
7. Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter died in a tragic accident. So sad.
8. Candy Spelling will apparently say anything to keep the blood bad between her and Tori. And she isn't doing her relationship with E! Online any favors, either.
9. Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the makers of New Moon are filmin', chillin' and makin' out—but not dating—in Italy. Whatever, it's all hot. And there are tons of pretty pics to look at!
10. Jay Leno said his Tonight Show goodbyes Friday. Thanks for the memories, indeed. And now, heeeeere's Conan...
