Steve Martin: Wild, Crazy, Married Guy
Steve Martin has gone from Father of the Bride to husband of the bride.
The veteran funnyman tied the knot for the second time Saturday to longtime girlfriend, journalist Anne Stringfield,
As is typical of the publicity-shy Saturday Night Live alum, the vow swap was cloaked in secrecy.
According to E! Online senior editor Marc Malkin, who first reported the nuptial news, while the ceremony took place at Martin's Los Angeles home, guests of the big day were not informed ahead of time that they would be witnessing a union and were told only that their presence was requested for an intimate dinner party at the comic's abode.
Among the famous faces present for the intimate vow swap were Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Carl Reiner and former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, a longtime friend of Martin's, who presided over the ceremony. Lorne Michaels served as Martin's best man for the occasion.
There's no word on when the 61-year-old Martin first popped the question to the 35-year-old former New Yorker and current Vogue writer, though the duo first started dating in December 2002.
The trip down the aisle marks the second such journey for the wild 'n crazy, though no longer single, guy.
In 1986, Martin tied the knot with L.A. Story actress Victoria Tennant and the couple was together for nearly eight years before ultimately divorcing in 1994. Following the split, Martin had just one relatively high-profile relationship with a pre-Ellen DeGeneres dating Anne Heche.
It is believed to be the first marriage for Stringfield.
