O.C. Mom Snags a Billionaire
Billions of dollars can probably buy you a pretty nice love nest—even in The O.C.
Kelly Rowan, who played Cohen family matriarch Kirsten on the soapy teen drama for four years, is planning to swap vows later this year with David Thomson, aka the richest man in Canada, the actress' rep confirmed Wednesday.
The pair met last year when Rowan, an Ottawa native herself, was working on a project in Toronto.
This will be the first trip down the aisle for Rowan, 41. That is not the case for her multimedia magnate fiancé, whose wealth is estimated at $22 billion (making him the 10th-richest man in the world, per Forbes) and whose publishing conglomerate, Thomson Corp., recently brokered a $17 billion deal to buy the London-based Reuters Group Plc.
Thomson, 50, has been married twice before and has three children. According to Canadian news site macleans.com, he served his second wife, Laurie Ludwick, with divorce papers just hours after she returned home from the hospital after giving birth to their son Benjamin.
But perhaps the third time will be the charm.
"Their family and friends couldn't be happier for them," a source close to Rowan and Thomson told People this week. "She's really happy."
Before she ties the knot, however, Rowan will be on the small screen again June 24 in the Lifetime movie In God's Country, which she also executive-produced. Also in the pipeline for her, per IMDb, is the romantic comedy Jack and Jill vs. the World, costarring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Taryn Manning.
