Nate Dogg Suffers Another Stroke

The Prodigal Son is ailing again.

West Coast rapper Nate Dogg was hospitalized nearly two weeks ago after suffering a stroke, his second in less than a year, according to Internet reports.

The 39-year-old hip-hopster was stricken on Sept. 5 and is currently in stable condition sedated under doctor's care in an undisclosed medical ward, SOHH and TMZ both report.

"He is back in the hospital," his manager, Rod McGrew, told the hip-hop news site SOHH. "He did suffer from a second stroke. He is in stable condition. The prognosis at this time is favorable. We're positive, prayerful, hopeful and patient."

Citing unnamed sources, TMZ said that while Dogg (whose real name is Nathaniel Hale) did not suffer any brain damage, he has little movement below the neck and requires the aid of an assisted-breathing tube.

The MC, a cousin of Snoop Dogg who made his debut on Dr. Dre's 1992 album The Chronic before signing with Death Row Records, was first felled by a stroke on Dec. 19, leaving him partially paralyzed.

Dogg had continued his recovery in physical therapy, but still relied on the use of a wheelchair.

"He was making excellent progress with his recovery from the first stroke," said McGrew. "This is an unfortunate setback. We welcome all prayers in support of Nate's recovery but we would appreciate privacy."

It's likely the rapper's condition will force a Compton judge to postpone a Sept. 24 hearing in which Dogg faces felony charges for threatening and stalking his estranged wife.
