Cate Blanchett Kidding Around Again
So much for being the Virgin Queen.
While making the red carpet rounds for the Sydney premiere of her film Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Cate Blanchett confirmed that she and playwright-husband Andrew Upton are expecting their third bundle of joy next spring.
"Yes, yes, we're expecting a baby in April, which is very exciting," the Oscar-winning Aussie told reporters.
Blanchett said she didn't know yet whether it's a boy or girl, though if it's the latter, the couple might want to redecorate the nursery: They already have two sons, five-year-old Dashiell John and three-year-old Roman Robert.
The pregnancy news comes as Blanchett, 38, and her partner prepare to begin their three-year tenure as joint artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company, the country's largest theater troupe, in January.
As for film projects, Blanchett recently wrapped her role opposite Harrison Ford in the highly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which swings into theaters on May 22. She also finished filming David Fincher's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's romantic fantasy The Curious Care of Benjamin Button, with Brad Pitt.
Her only other project in the pipeline is the voice role of Mrs. Fox, opposite George Clooney's Mr. Fox, in Wes Anderson's upcoming animated comedy The Fantastic Mr. Fox, based on the Roald Dahl novel.
Meanwhile, in other Hollywood nursery news, 26-year-old pop princess Christina Aguilera finally publicly admitted in an interview with Glamour magazine that she and her 30-year-old music exec husband Jordan Bratman are expecting their first child together. Sources close to the couple first confirmed the pregnancy to E! News back in July.
