"Well, at least that's how Joe sees himself," says a source close to the Simpson clan. "He thinks nobody can manage his daughters' careers, or love lives, better than he can."
Yes, we all know how he never, ever approved of poor ol' Nick Lachey.
"He thought Nick was beneath Jessica," our insider says. "But, oh, how he loves Tony Romo." According to the source, Joe literally calls the Dallas Cowboys quarterback "Texas royalty," and he considers Jessica "the perfect Texas Rose."

But what of Ashlee? Surely, she can't escape dad's scrutiny.
Well, we've just learned from an insider very close to the Simpson brood that poor Ashlee isn't making Daddy quite as happy as her big sis. Pete Wentz, it turns out, does not make the cut for ol' Papa Joe.
"Yeah, he hates that she's with Pete," says our insider. "He thinks he's a wimp. And he tells Ashlee so," our source says.
Oh, Ashlee, is your heart breaking?
"Nope," says our source. "She's not like Jessica. Dad doesn't like her boyfriend? So what. She doesn't care. She's been that way since she was 16 years old."
Well, we're still pulling for you, Pete. You may be a wimp in Joe's eyes, but if you can make this one work, you're a bigger man than Nick!
Hope she's worth the trouble.
