InstagramCamila Mendes has called it quits with boyfriend Victor Houston.
The 24-year-old Riverdale actress and her beau split "very recently," a source tells E! News. "Camila ended things with Victor after ComicCon, when she realized she wasn't ready to be in this relationship anymore," the insider tells us. "Victor was completely blindsided and is very heartbroken."
The source adds, "He has been receiving a lot of backlash from the Riverdale community, even though it was actually Camila's choice to end the relationship."
Mendes and Houston first sparked romance rumors in June with some flirty social media posts. A source confirmed to E! News at the time that the couple was indeed an item and that the duo, who went to neighboring high schools in Florida, had been dating for two months.
Around the same time, the couple was spotted getting cozy at at E.P. & L.P. in West Hollywood. "They clearly looked like a couple and didn't leave each other's side for the hour they were there," a source shared with E! News at the time. "They were showing a lot of PDA and were being very lovey dovey."
For Mendes' birthday on June 29, Houston posted a photo of the couple with the caption, "Happy birthday beautiful." The photo has since been deleted on Houston's Instagram, along with other photos of Mendes. But Mendes still has a photo up of Houston kissing her cheek from early June and they also still appear to be following each other on Instagram.
In July, Mendes was all smiles as she confirmed her relationship status in an interview with E! News at the 2018 Beautycon event in Los Angeles. "I can confirm, sure, I don't care," she said, adding, "Sorry, guys."
Houston then accompanied Mendes to San Diego Comic-Con 2018 in late July, where they partied with her Riverdale co-stars.
Mendes had previously opened up about dating her non-actor beau in Nylon's Beauty Issue. "It's somebody completely out of the industry," she said. "It's funny because I'm more hesitant to talk about it because I don't want him to read this...I actually would totally talk about it right now, if I didn't feel like, Wait, he might read this."
"It's just dating people in the industry is tough," Mendes continued. "I did for a little bit. I've just dated actors. It's hard when that's your world."
Mendes has been back at work on Riverdale in Vancouver, while Houston's latest Instagram post shows him in California.
