It's time to bid farewell to 2016 and rev up our DVRs for 2017, and what better way to do so than by looking back on the 10 best TV shows of the year?
Believe it or not, 2016 saw the airing of 451 original TV series, and no, that's not a typo. That's A LOT of TV, but somehow, we were able to narrow our list down and highlight the best of the best, while also giving shout-outs to five series that just missed our top 10.
More than a few newbies made our list, including NBC's This Is Us, which has made us cry ALL the tears, and American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. The common denominator there? Sterling K. Brown, the breakout TV star of 2016.
Also making our list were returning shows, like Game of Thrones, thanks to its most epic season yet, and old favorites that we never thought we'd see again aka Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life's highly anticipated return via Netflix.
