2016 is shaping up to be one of Bristol Palin's most whirlwind yet.
Just seven months after her surprise wedding to former ex Dakota Meyer, the Dancing With the Stars alum and oldest daughter of Sarah Palin has announced she is expecting her third child. In her words, "Looking back many months ago, I would never have dreamed this is where I would be."
In a newly penned post on her blog, the 26-year-old expectant mother of two reveals she always had plans to have another baby with Meyer despite their past broken engagement.
"Dakota and I have been through trials in the public eye, and I am so thankful for where we are today," she wrote.
"Keeping with our unconventional life, it has been so much fun to keep this news just among our family and friends for the first half of our pregnancy; that Dakota knows the baby's gender but the rest of us won't until he or she is born; and even while pregnant with Sailor (under more unconventional circumstances) I always knew a third child someday would complete our family."
Palin famously got pregnant for the first time at 17 and welcomed son Tripp with her high school boyfriend, former fiancé Levi Johnston. The couple never wed, and instead, went their separate ways three months after the baby was born.
Seven years later in 2015, she was engaged again, this time to Meyer. "Truly the luckiest girl in the world, cannot wait to marry this man!!!!" Bristol wrote on Instagram at the time.
Still, the wedding did wait. The two called off their engagement just days before the ceremony. Meyer's name popped back up in the headlines when Palin gave birth to daughter Sailor Grace seven months later, but did not immediately name the father.
After the Marines veteran was granted joint custody of the baby, the two appeared more frequently together on social media until it was revealed in June that they were officially husband and wife and had wed a month earlier.
Another surprise came a week ago when Palin confirmed she is expecting for the third time, though the baby's sex is a secret to everyone but her husband. "The family are extremely happy and looking forward to the blessed event and to their growing family," Palin's rep told E! News.
As she reflected in her blog post, "God brought us together. And then back together. Pretty miraculous."
