Imagine waking up to the news that you've just been honored with a Golden Globe Award nomination. Today, that dream was entirely real for a handful of Tinseltown's stars, old and new.

As Anna Kendrick, Laura Dern and Don Cheadle announced this year's honorees, careers were changed for the better. While some stars garnered their first nods to date, others hit significant highs, including Meryl Streep who earned her 30th nomination this year for Florence Foster Jenkins and the most of any star in history so far.

There were clear favorites among the nominees this year, such as La La Land and Manchester by the Sea, both of which collected honors in all of the major categories.

The Edge of Seventeen's Hailee Steinfeld, Rules Don't Apply's Lily CollinsMoonlight's Naomie Harris, Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds and Atlanta's Donald Glover scored their first Golden Globe nominations while stars like Transparent's Jeffrey Tambor and Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus were named again after years of consecutive nods.

Whether they're celebrating for the first time or with a Golden Globe statue already in their hand, Hollywood was in high spirits Monday morning. Here's how your favorite stars reacted to the happy news:

FX

Sterling K. Brown: "HFPA! Y'all crazy for this one… and I couldn't be more grateful! Thank you for such a tremendous honor! What a wonderful way to finish off the year...wow! In recognition that no one gets to this place in their career by themselves, I have to first thank my wife and two children for giving me such a clear purpose for being. Ryan, Andrew, Amaré… you make this all worthwhile! Jennifer Wiley Stockton… thank you for doing so much, so that I can stay focused on the task at hand. Let us never part. Michael Geiser, you are unsung, sir! (And if you erase this from my statement, we'll have words)! Love you, buddy. To my agents at Innovative Artists, especially my man David Rose, thank you for giving your boy all the support he could ask for. St. Louis, I rep you 'til the day I die! To all my family and friends there, thank you for making your boy feel special. #ChocolateCardinal y'all know I luvs you! To my artistic family from NYC, including (but not limited to) my friends and faculty at the grad acting program at NYU, thank you for keeping your boy nourished and fed. Literally and spiritually. Namaste"

Amazon Studios

Rachel Bloom: "WOW. Once again, you have made my dreams come true, @goldenglobes. I and everyone at #CrazyExGirlfriend are BEYOND grateful!!!"

Matt Damon: "Congratulations to our incredible crew and a deep thank you to Kenny Lonergan and the entire cast who poured their hearts and souls into this, and thank you as well to the HFPA for championing a little movie like ours."

HBO

Kerry Washington: "Now, more than ever, we must champion stories that highlight our bravest voices in times of adversity. As an actress and a producer I am so grateful to the HFPA for acknowledging Confirmation in this way."

Nicole Kidman: "This nomination is even more emotional and I'm more grateful than ever before. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press!"

Riz Ahmed: "Thank you HFPA! I'm absolutely thrilled to be counted amongst this year's nominees. I'm deeply indebted to Steve Zaillian, Richard Price, HBO, to all the cast and crew of The Night Of for their dedication in bringing this timely story to life, and all those who shared their stories of prison and prejudice with me in researching this role. It was an honour to portray Nas, and through him the untold stories of so many."

Lin-Manuel Miranda: "Gracias. Merci. Grazie. Danke sehr. Mahalo. Thank you Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this tremendous honor. Congratulations to my fellow nominees. Over two years ago, I was lucky enough to have been given my dream job, writing songs for a Disney animated film, alongside the amazing Opetaia Foa'i & Mark Mancina. Today, for Moana to be recognized for what we created is truly beyond comprehension. ‘How Far I'll Go' not only embodies the spirit of our heroine but the central lesson from the film—dream big, listen to your gut, don't give up, never forget where you came from, and one day you might just save the world."

Suzanne Tenner/SHOWTIME

Gael García Bernal: "I'm so thrilled I was nominated for Mozart in the Jungle and that the show was nominated. I'm equally as thrilled Neruda was nominated for Best Foreign Film. I'm so lucky to be a part of both projects. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press."

Liev Schreiber: "What a great wake up call...Thank you to all the writers on Ray Donovan, Ann Biderman, David Hollander, David Nevins, and the extraordinary cast of actors who carry me through every season of this show. Huge thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for continuing to support our show and for giving me another great excuse to play dress up with the boys. We are thrilled!"

Lily Collins: "I've never felt so shocked, honored, and proud. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my fearless leader and mentor Warren Beatty, the Hollywood Foreign Press, and to all those involved with Rules Don't Apply. Sharing this moment with my mom sitting on our couch in the dark is something I'll never forget. It's a complete dream come true. I still can't breathe."

Evan Rachel Wood: "Being a part of Westworld is such an honor. Dolores is the greatest character I've ever played. I'm so thankful to everyone on the show and that these groundbreaking complex roles are being written for women and even more grateful that the Hollywood Foreign Press is recognizing me and the show for it. Thank you."

20th Century Fox

Rami Malek: "I'm incredibly grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for recognizing me in this group of distinguished and accomplished actors. I'm thrilled to be sharing this moment with my co-star and fellow nominee Christian Slater. I am so thankful for the brilliant mind of Sam Esmail, USA Network, Universal Cable Productions, and the exceptionally gifted cast, crew, and writers of Mr. Robot."

Ryan Reynolds: "I'm honored to be nominated by the HFPA for a Golden Globe. And possibly more honored the film itself is being recognized this way. As we speak, the entire Deadpool team is engaged in a grotesque, early morning tickle-fight."

Courtney B. Vance: "So grateful to be considered with all of theses great actors and projects. I thank Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and all of our wonderful cast & crew!"

Caitriona Balfe: "Thank you so much to the HFPA for this nomination. I am grateful everyday that I get to portray a woman who is strong-willed, confident, intelligent, empowered and simply unforgettable. While Outlander is a brilliant period show, Claire represents so many qualities of a 20th Century modern day woman, someone who is forging her own path, fighting for what she believes and doing so with integrity. I am thrilled to be nominated among such an amazing and talented group of women."

Murray Close/STX Productions

Hailee Steinfeld: "I am overcome with excitement and joy to be nominated for The Edge of Seventeen. We set out to make a film that would resonate with men and women of all ages because the message of self-acceptance and embracing your truth is universal.  Contrary to the reality that I face as a young actress on a daily basis, Eo17 isn't a film about a teenage girl wrestling with her identity and self-worth because of the influence of social media defining her popularity. Instead, it's an anthem for self-acceptance and I'm so grateful to Jim Brooks and Kelly Fremon-Craig for granting me the opportunity to play such a complex and unlikely heroine."

Dan Fogelman: "What a morning. The last time my phone started ringing like that at 5:30 AM I think my grandfather had died.  This continues to be the wildest, craziest, and most rewarding ride for all of us.  I'm very grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing our show, as well as Mandy and Chrissy - two insanely talented women who are as easy to root for as they are to write for.   I'm incredibly proud of every single member of this cast and crew - they don't all get to put on tuxes and drink champagne and make out with movie stars (that's what happens next, right?) but they kill themselves to make our show special and I know our set is going to be buzzing this morning."

I'm very proud of Hacksaw Ridge and I share this with Bill Mechanic, David Permut and Mel who led the charge on this project with great vision, humility, integrity and love. Jill Soloway: "The Globes always lead the industry in recognizing the new, the subversive, the wild frontrunners. What an honor it was for me to wake up and see that TRANSPARENT continues to be part an important and lauded part of our culture. How thrilling, also that Jeffrey Tambor's marvelous and gorgeous portrayal of Maura Pfefferman is getting love. In this post-Trump America, intersectional voices are the future of the taking our power against patriarchy. I am especially so excited to see Issa Rae and Donald Glover nominated for how they are reinventing artistic protagonism as artists and actors. This morning I'm on the set on a mountainside with the I LOVE DICK cast and crew in Marfa, Texas and we're celebrating for Amazon and Topple.
