Congratulations to all the nominees!

Like any award show, the 2017 Golden Globes will be chock full of surprises, and they began with the nominations Monday morning. While many TV shows, movies and stars that were expected to be nominated did, in fact, receive those nominations, there were also a few who stars who many felt should have been lauded but were snubbed. That being said, there were also nominations that caught people by surprise, so E! News has rounded up this year's Golden Globes snubs and surprises:

Denzel Washington was nominated in the Best Actor in a Movie, Drama, category for Fences, but the actor, who also directed the film, failed to receive a Best Director nomination. The movie, which is based on a play, also failed to receive a nomination in the Best Picture, Drama category. Although Washington received one nomination, we're pretty surprised the HFPA snubbed him in the other categories.

Tom Hanks received nominations at the Critics' Choice Awards and Hollywood Film Awards—winning at the latter—for Sully but didn't earn any recognition for the role at the upcoming Golden Globes. This year is proving to be a tough one!

Martin Scorsese's latest epic, Silence, starring Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver, failed to nab any kudos in any category. We were sure Driver would earn some sort of nomination for his dedication to the role, having to lose more than 50 pounds for it, but the HFPA didn't feel the same way. Garfield did, however, nab a nomination for his role in Hacksaw Ridge.

While there is no questioning Dev Patel's and Nicole Kidman's performances in Lion (spoiler alert: they're both fantastic), we were surprised to see the film make the cut in the Best Picture, Drama, category.

Taraji P. Henson's role in Hidden Figures deserved to be lauded, but somehow the Empire actress was completely shut out in all categories.

Sally Field's emotional range in Hello, My Name Is Doris brought audiences to tears and hysterical laughter with ease, so the nonexistent nominations for this heartfelt comedy and its star definitely feels like a snub.

Kate Beckinsale received rave reviews in Love and Friendship, but the HFPA didn't let her make the cut in any categories.

Pixar's Finding Dory failed to secure a nomination in the Best Animated Feature category, which is the definition of a snub. Disney, however, received nominations for Moana and Zootopia, so that animation team wasn't totally shut out.

Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge pulled in more nominations than Fences or Silence. Color us surprised (and still not over Silence's snubs across the board).

Emily Blunt stunned in The Girl on the Train, but unfortunately the HFPA didn't give her any accolades for her portrayal of an alcoholic trying to figure out what happened to a missing woman.

The Golden Globes are always fun because they give recognition to movies that don't often receive it (i.e. comedies), but we're still surprised that Ryan Reynolds nabbed a nomination for Deadpool while Sausage Party was nowhere to be found in animation or comedy categories.
